Toronto Blue Jays' Ernie Clement to play in World Baseball Classic

Toronto Blue Jays utility man Ernie Clement will get a chance to play for his country in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
Team USA announced on Tuesday that Ernie Clement is suiting up for his country.

The World Baseball Classic also confirmed that Clement would be joining Team USA in the tournament that begins March 6 against Team Brazil.

Former Blue Jays' teammates square off against each other in WBC opener
Bo Bichette, who will be playing for Team Brazil, will get to face off against his former teammate Ernie Clement.
That should be an interesting game to keep an eye on for any Blue Jays fan.
A native of Rochester, NY, the 29-year-old Clement is headed into his sixth big-league season and fourth with the Blue Jays.
He appeared in 157 games last season, batting .277 with 151 hits, nine home runs and 50 runs batted in with an OPS of .711 and a 4.3 WAR.
Clement had a monster postseason in the team's run to the World Series, setting a new major league record with 30 hits, including 12 in the World Series.

Clement avoided arbitration with the Blue Jays last week, agreeing to a one-year, $4.6 million contract. The Virginia product is under team control through 2029.
Team USA will compete in Pool B alongside Mexico, Italy, Great Britain and Brazil.
They open their tournament on March 6 against Brazil at Houston's Daikin Park.
