Toronto Blue Jays fan favourite has a message for Canada

Former Toronto Blue Jays infielder Munenori Kawasaki has a message for Canadians.
In anticipation of Prime Minister Mark Carney's official state visit to Japan, the official X account of MOFA of Japan, the English language account of the Country's Foreign Affairs Ministry, released a video featuring the Japanese baseball and Toronto Blue Jays
In the video, which Munenori Kawasaki starts in English before switching to Japanese, the six-year major league veteran fondly reminisces about his time in Canada, mentioning his "good memory", the great time he had playing for the organization, and how it still feels like family.
He also mentions how his son was born in Toronto.
In anticipation of the visit of the Rt. Hon. Mark CARNEY, Prime Minister of Canada and his spouse to Japan, Mr. Munenori KAWASAKI, a professional baseball player who belonged to the Toronto Blue Jays, the only Major League Baseball team based in #Canada, has provided a message.

Kawasaki successful well into 40's
Although he was a backup infielder and was only with the team for parts of three seasons, Kawasaki etched himself into the hearts and memories of Blue Jays fans with his playful personality, grinding play, and hilarious post-game interviews.
In May of 2026, after hitting a game-winning hit, he gave a memorable post game chat that became so iconic it itself won a GIBBY Award for Topic of the Year that offseason.
Although his major league and NPB playing days are over, Kawasaki caught on with the Mid East Falcons of Baseball United and ended up winning United Series MVP after the Falcons won the inaugural series.
