The Toronto Blue Jays are looking for answers regarding the elbow trouble plaguing one of their starting pitchers.

According to Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling, Blue Jays veteran right-hander Jose Berrios, who was scratched from his scheduled spring training start on Thursday due to inflammation in his right elbow, will travel to Texas next week to be examined in person by Dr. Keith Meister on Friday.
Zwelling also reported that Berrios will not throw again until he undergoes the evaluation.

Berrios setbacks may effect availability for Opening Day

Dr. Meister, an orthopedic surgeon based in Arlington, Texas, is widely regarded as one of the leading specialists in elbow reconstruction within sports medicine.
He is particularly known for performing UCL reconstruction, commonly referred to as Tommy John surgery, as well as arthroscopic procedures on professional baseball players.
Berrios has made two appearances for the Blue Jays during spring training, highlighted by a strong outing last Saturday when he delivered four scoreless innings against the New York Yankees.
The 31-year-old had been expected to join Puerto Rico for the quarterfinal round of the World Baseball Classic.
However, the elbow inflammation was discovered during the tournament's insurance evaluation process, which ultimately prevented him from participating.
The current elbow issue is reportedly unrelated to the injury that kept Berrios out near the end of last season.
It is still uncertain whether the setback will affect his availability for Opening Day, with the Blue Jays scheduled to begin the regular season on March 27.
Last season, Berrios logged 166 innings and finished with a 4.17 ERA - the second-highest mark of his career in seasons where he has thrown at least 100 innings.
