The Toronto Blue Jays are facing yet another injury to a key piece of their lineup.

Centre-fielder Daulton Varsho left Friday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the third inning with left knee discomfort, per a team announcement.
Varsho took one at-bat in the top of the first, striking out looking, and played two innings defensively before Myles Straw took over in centre.
After the game, Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters that the discomfort is from Varsho's quad down to his knee.
Schneider added that Varsho is considered day-to-day and won't undergo imaging.
John Schneider said Daulton Varsho told him pre-game about discomfort in his left quad down to the knee. Blue Jays pulled him “to be extra careful. He got checked out, no MRI, no anything, kind of just day to day. So that’s a good thing.”
Schneider also provided an update on Vladimir Guerrero Jr's index finger.
Vladdy jammed a his left index finger receiving a throw at first and had to call time and speak with the trainers. He stayed in the game but was clearly favoring his glove hand.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. caught his left index finger in the runner’s jersey, John Schneider says. Guerrero told him he’s OK. “I think he’ll be fine tomorrow.” #BlueJays

Blue Jays resilience being tested with rash of injuries

Meanwhile, Varsho entered Friday as one of Toronto's hottest hitters.
After his first-inning strikeout, Varsho owned a .262/.333/.462 slashline with three home runs and four doubles.
Varsho dealt with shoulder and hamstring issues in 2025, but still managed to hit 20 home runs in the 71 games that he did play.
If Varsho were to miss any more time, (which thankfully, sounds like won't be long) it would further test the Blue Jays' depth, as lineup regulars George Springer, Addison Barger and Alejandro Kirk are already on the injured list.
Guerrero and the Blue Jays will look to get back in the win column Saturday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Max Scherzer is on the bump versus Zac Gallen. First pitch 8:10 PM ET on Sportsnet.
