Despite a disappointing start to his big-league comeback, Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Cody Ponce remains upbeat.

After a five-year journey back to Major League Baseball, Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Cody Ponce’s return to the mound didn’t go as planned.
During his March 30 start against the Colorado Rockies, Ponce suffered a sprained anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee after an awkward step off the mound.
The injury is expected to sideline him for roughly six months, potentially keeping him out for the remainder of the 2026 season.
Even with the setback early in his three-year tenure with the Blue Jays, Ponce shared a positive heartfelt message with fans on Instagram.
Not the way I expected this journey to start. I love this team and the brotherhood we have! Ponce wrote. "I am so pumped to be here, and am so happy to be a Blue Jay! I can’t wait to be back in Rogers Center with all y’all!

The best trilogy’s always start with a plot twist!"

Rehabilitation process will be a lengthily process for Ponce

Toronto signed Ponce last December to strengthen their starting rotation after he posted a remarkable 17-1 record with a 1.89 ERA for the Hanwha Eagles in the Korean KBO League.
Before donning a Blue Jays uniform, Ponce’s last major-league appearance was for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sept. 27, 2021, in a 13-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
Following his release by the Pirates, he played overseas for Japan’s Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters.
Ponce joins a growing list of Blue Jays starters who began the season on the injured reserve list, including Bowden Francis (Tommy John surgery), Trey Yesavage (shoulder), José Berríos (elbow), and Shane Bieber (elbow).
