Quick, who is the Toronto Blue Jays best minor league pitcher not named Trey Yesavage?
If you are to believe MLB writers, the answer might as well be Gage Stanifer
19th round pick in 2022 and a former teammate of Toronto's newest addition to their major league roster, Stanifer was recently named as the Blue Jays breakout prospect of the 2025 season.
Taking a look at his numbers, it's easy to see why.
After struggling to an ERA above 6.00 in his first two seasons, Stanifer turned a corner this year, and ended up moving up to Double-A New Hampshire, where he finished off the year.
Overall, he ended up with a 2.86 ERA and 161 strikeouts in 110 innings.
Not bad for a guy who was somewhat of an afterthought heading into the season.
Named to the Northwest League All-Star Team
Being named the Blue Jays breakout prospect, wasn't the only honour bestowed upon Stanifer.
He was also named a Northwest League All-Star alongside teammates Cutter Coffey, Fernando Perez, and Chay Yeager.
Like Stanifer, Yeager was drafted by the Blue Jays, while Perez was signed as an international free agent.
Coffey was acquired as part of the deal that sent former catcher Danny Jansen to the Boston Red Sox.
While not necessarily held in the same regard as his former rotation mate Yesavage, Stanifer has definitely opened some eyes in the minors.
If he maintains that success in the 2026 minor league season, he could be pitching alongside his friend and former teammate sooner, rather than later.
