Toronto Blue Jays promote one coach, hire two more externally

The Toronto Blue Jays are shaking things up with three additions to their coaching staff.
The Blue Jays hired former catcher Drew Butera to their major-league staff, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reported on Tuesday.
Blue Jays are adding Drew Butera as a major-league coach. He served as White Sox catching instructor the past two seasons and Jays have had past interest in adding him to staff.
The Athletic's Mitch Bannon reported that Eric Duncan was also an addition to the staff.
The Blue Jays are adding Drew Butera and Eric Duncan to the MLB coaching staff, sources confirm. Duncan was the team's director of position player development in 2024. They are among the 3 additions to John Schneider's staff. Shi Davidi was first on Butera.
In Septemeber, Butera was one of four White Sox coaches who didn't have their contracts renewed for 2025.
A 12-year MLB veteran, Butera spent time with Minnesota, Kansas City, Colorado and both Los Angeles-based clubs. He played in 553 career games, hitting 19 home runs with a .542 OPS.
The 42-year-old was a member of the Royals' World Series-winning club in 2015.
Schneider will announce internal promotion at a later date
