The Toronto Blue Jays shared encouraging injury updates on four pitchers Monday, with rookie starter Trey Yesavage appearing closest to a return.

According to MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson, Toronto Blue Jays rookie right-hander Trey Yesavage is slated to throw a simulated game on Friday, targeting roughly three innings and about 45 pitches as he continues his recovery.
Trey Yesavage will throw a sim game on Friday around 3 innings and 45 pitches.

• José Berríos will throw bullpen tomorrow, then a live BP on Saturday

• Yimi García will throw a bullpen tomorrow

• Shane Bieber will throw off a mound for the first time Saturday #BlueJays

All four pitchers began the season on the injured list, making these developments a welcome sign for the Blue Jays.

Fellow starter Jose Berrios is expected to take another step forward as well, with a bullpen session scheduled for Tuesday followed by a live bullpen on Saturday.
Reliever Yimi Garcia will also throw a bullpen session Tuesday, while Shane Bieber is set to throw off a mound for the first time this Saturday.
Yesavage has been dealing with a right shoulder impingement, while Berríos is recovering from a stress fracture in his pitching elbow suffered during Spring Training.
García continues to rehab from elbow surgery performed in September 2025, and Bieber has been sidelined by elbow inflammation that prevented him from pitching during Spring Training.
Despite being without multiple key arms, an unusual situation for any team, especially with three rotation spots impacted on Opening Day, the Blue Jays have managed to piece together a full starting rotation.
That patchwork pitching staff delivered immediate results. In their season-opening sweep of the Oakland Athletics, Toronto set a major-league record by combining for 50 strikeouts across the first three games.
The dominant stretch was powered by standout performances from Kevin Gausman (11 strikeouts), offseason acquisition Dylan Cease (12 strikeouts), and Eric Lauer (nine strikeouts).
New addition Cody Ponce, who impressed while pitching in Korea in 2025, is set to make his Blue Jays debut today against the Colorado Rockies.
Meanwhile, veteran ace Max Scherzer is scheduled to take the mound Tuesday.
