Toronto Blue Jays rookie sensation Trey Yesavage defied the odds and dominated the best hitters on the planet in 2025.
Yesavage announced his postseason presence from the get-go with 11 strikeouts over 5.1 no-hit innings against the New York Yankees in the ALDS, setting a Blue Jays single-post-season game record.
Facing a lineup with Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Cody Bellinger, Yesavage struck out 11 Yankee batters over 5.1 dominant innings.
His splitter was absolutely cooking on that day and the crowd at Rogers Centre was hanging on every pitch.
The eleven strikeouts set a record by a Blue Jays pitcher in the postseason. All of this after making three starts down the stretch in September.
"Complete, Utter Dominance." Trey Yesavage K'ing the Side again. 10 Strikeouts thru 4 Innings. 😳
Yesavage's next record setting outing was in game 5 of the the World Series
The image of Shohei Ohtani being struck out by Yesavage in the third inning of Game 5 should follow Yesavage for the rest of his career.
The box score will read «Strikeout: Swinging Strike,» but that's too kind a description of what Yesavage did to Ohtani.
The swing brought Ohtani down to one knee, and as that back left knee slammed into the dirt, his helmet came tumbling off, just another piece of Ohtani trying to chase a pitch that was never there.
By the time Yesavage bounced off the mound, Ohtani was picking up his belongings in the other batter's box.

Yesavage forced 23 whiffs from the Dodgers in Game 5, the most of any pitcher in the World Series since pitch tracking began in 2008.
The 12 strikeouts were also the most by a pitcher in World Series history while issuing zero walks.
«I gave everything I had for this team, for this organization, and they did the same back,» Yesavage said. «I'm so grateful to be in this situation. I gave everything to the fans. I gave everything to Canada and all of the stops I made along the way. I'm so blessed to be in this position.»
