The Toronto Blue Jays have signed former Chicago White Sox right-hander Caleb Freeman to a minor league contract.

The Toronto Blue Jays made an under-the-radar addition today.
According to the official transaction log, Toronto has signed right-handed pitcher Caleb Freeman to a minor league contract.
The 27-year-old previously spent his entire professional career with the Chicago White Sox organization.
Freeman made his Major League debut with the White Sox this season, appearing in five games and pitching a total of 3⅓ innings.
During that stretch, he allowed two runs on five hits-including one home run-while issuing one walk and recording three strikeouts.
Originally selected by Chicago in the 15th round of the 2019 MLB Draft, Freeman split most of his season between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte.
Caleb Freeman gets the final out to send the #Barons to the Championship Series.
Across those levels, he logged 27⅔ innings with a strong 2.93 ERA.
In total, Freeman threw 50⅔ innings in the minors this year, posting a 4.26 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP while striking out 49 batters.
Caleb Freeman pitches the final 1.1 w/ 3K's for his 2nd Save, as the #Barons win 6-2.

Freeman looking for a fresh start in the Blue Jays farm system

Despite some inconsistency with command throughout his minor league career, he has maintained an impressive strikeout rate, fanning roughly 27 percent of opposing hitters across six professional seasons.
Freeman features a fastball that sits around 95 mph and complements it with an 82-83 mph curveball and a slider in the 87-88 mph range.
The Blue Jays have assigned Freeman to Double-A New Hampshire as he begins the next chapter of his career in a new organization.
While he may not immediately factor into Toronto's major league bullpen plans,
Freeman will have the opportunity to prove himself in the minors. If he performs well, he could eventually work his way into consideration for a call-up later in the season.
