According to Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball, Latta will be signing with the Toronto Blue Jays as a free agent.
SIGNING: Cal State Fullerton standout SS Maddox Latta has signed with the Blue Jays as a Free Agent, I'm told. Latta, 5-11, 175 pounds, is a smooth defender and finished the 2025 campaign with a .362 average and 15 doubles + 37 BB/31 K. Was committed to Aggies Baseball out of the portal.
Latta, who is originally from California, has decided to make his way down to Aggieland to cap off an extraordinary baseball career at Los Angeles Valley College and Cal State Fullerton.
In his lone year at community college, Latta slashed a .360 batting average, was named the Western State Conference most valuable player and earned a gold glove award.
Latta is a standout defender with a .979 fielding percentage and a wealth of experience. Offensively, he batted .362, drove in 27 runs, stole 14 bases, and tallied 15 doubles.
Blue jays pick up Maddox Latta as a UDFA. Big West Defensive POY with a steady glove and .977 fielding %. Can move around the infield, solid depth piece with real instincts.
The MLB Draft continues to be a volatile time for college baseball coaches, as rosters can change dramatically in just a few days.
Texas A&M had more than seven committed players either drafted or signed to free agent deals during the draft window.
While this hurts the Aggies' 2026 lineup, the return of Ben Royo and the addition of Travis Chesnut at least provide more infield depth.
We'll have to wait a few more days to see which players officially ink deals before diving into an early analysis of the 2026 Aggie baseball team.
