The Toronto Blue Jays have traded infielder Leo Jimenez to the Miami Marlins.

The Toronto Blue Jays have dealt infielder Leo Jimenez to the Miami Marlins, according to Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith.
Because Miami’s 40-man roster is currently full, the club will need to make a corresponding move to accommodate Jimenez, unless a player on the roster is heading back to Toronto as part of the return.
Sources: Blue Jays and Marlins have agreed to a trade that will send Leo Jimenez to Miami.
According to a report from Spanish MLB insider the Blue Jays will get infielder Dub Gleed and $250K in international bonus pool money.
The Miami Marlins acquired INF Leo Jimenez from the Blue Jays in exchange for infielder Dub Gleed and $250K in international bonus pool money, per sources.
Both teams made the trade official shortly thereafter.
OFFICIAL: We’ve acquired INF Dub Gleed and International Signing Bonus Pool Space from the Marlins in exchange for INF Leo Jiménez.
The 23-year-old Gleed was a ninth-round pick for the Marlins in the 2024 draft, and his first season of pro ball saw Gleed make it all the way to Triple-A, albeit for just one game.
Gleed hit .252/.391/.347 over 275 plate appearances at four different Marlins affiliates, with most of his playing time coming at the A-ball and Double-A levels.
Gleed primarily split time between the two corner infield positions, and also appeared in a game apiece as a second baseman and as a catcher.

Jimenez will get playing time with the Marlins

Jimenez, who is out of minor league options, was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays after failing to secure a spot on the Opening Day roster.
Given that situation, it seemed unlikely he would clear waivers and remain in the organization, and the Marlins ultimately stepped in with a trade to acquire the 24-year-old.
Jimenez made his Major League debut in 2024 and delivered a solid performance, posting a 101 wRC+ across 210 plate appearances. He hit .229/.329/.358 with four home runs during that stretch.
An injury to Bo Bichette that season gave Jimenez an opportunity for consistent playing time.
However, with Bichette returning in 2025 and other infielders like Andres Gimenez, Ernie Clement, and Addison Barger taking on larger roles, Jimenez was pushed out of the mix.
As a result, he appeared in just 18 big league games in 2025, recording a .301 OPS over 32 plate appearances.
Injuries also didn’t help Jimenez’s case, as he played in only 44 total games between the majors and minors in 2025.
Over 18 games with the Blue Jays, Jimenez had just a .301 OPS to show for 32 trips to the plate, though he hit better in the minors.
Jimenez has a .260/.404/.380 slash line and seven homers over 374 career PA at the Triple-A level.
