Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. looks poised to deliver the best season of his career in 2026.
Since bursting onto the scene with Toronto Blue Jays in 2019, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has consistently flashed superstar potential.
That promise reached a new level during the Blue Jays’ recent World Series run, when he authored one of the most dominant postseason performances baseball has ever seen.
Simply put, Guerrero is primed for a monster season in 2026.
Last season, there were moments when the weight of his massive contract extension appeared to linger.
While Guerrero was still productive, he didn’t quite reach the elite standard fans had grown accustomed to.
He finished the regular season with a .848 OPS, 23 home runs, and 84 RBIs — solid numbers, but modest by his standards.
"I think he's going to be top 5, come this time next year."

Those totals marked his lowest full-season output since his rookie year, when he appeared in just 123 games.
The dip was especially noticeable when compared to his outstanding 2024 season, during which he posted a .323/.396/.544 slash line and racked up 75 extra-base hits.
That performance earned him a top-six MVP finish, even as the Blue Jays struggled to the bottom of the standings.
When Guerrero scuffles, it’s often tied to an increase in pulled ground balls, particularly to the left side of the infield.
He put the ball on the ground 47.7 percent of the time in 2024, a figure that dipped slightly to 47.1 percent in 2025 but remained a point of concern.
Guerrero Jr flipped a switch when the postseason arrived
Everything shifted once the postseason arrived. Guerrero erupted for a historic eight home runs, looking more locked in mechanically than ever before.

Just as important, his confidence was unmistakable. He played loose, aggressive, and fearless — traits that had always defined his best stretches but now appeared fully cemented.
That belief in himself may be the biggest catalyst of all heading into 2026.
Baseball mechanics are as mental as they are physical, and Guerrero finally proved he can dominate on the game’s biggest stage.
Any lingering doubts about whether he was worthy of a $500 million contract have vanished.
With newfound confidence, elite talent, and postseason validation firmly in hand, Guerrero enters the 2026 season with every reason to believe his best baseball is still ahead, a thrilling prospect for both the Blue Jays and their fan base.
