Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s cousin inks deal with Pittsburgh Pirates

Another member of the Guerrero family is coming to the Major Leagues.
On a busy first day of the new international signing period, Latin American baseball insider Francys Romero reports that Wilton Guerrero Jr. has reached an agreement with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He will receive a $1.5MM signing bonus.
The Pittsburgh Pirates officially signed Wilton Guerrero Jr. for $1.9 million.

Guerrero is the cousin of Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., nephew of Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero Sr., and son of Wilton Guerrero.
While he was much less known than his famous younger brother, Wilton Sr. had a respectable nine year career, including 3.5 years as his brother's teammate in Montreal from 1998-2000 and again in 2002.
A utility player, Wilton Sr. suited up for four teams during his career.
His son, a shortstop, is considered to have one of the strongest throwing arms of the current free class. The Pirates clearly think highly of him, giving the $1.5MM signing bonus they threw his way.
Guerrero family quickly becoming a baseball dynasty
Much like former Expos manager Felipe Alou and his sons, the Guerrero's are quickly becoming a baseball dynasty.
In addition to Wilton Jr., another cousin Gabriel also reached the Major Leagues. Although he has since retired, he got into 15 games with the Cincinnati Reds in 2018, and was briefly a member of the Jays organization in 2020.
