Long-time and beloved Blue Jays announcer Buck Martinez has seen outpouring of support since announcing recurrence of cancer.

Martinez stepped away from the broadcasting booth earlier this year and later revealed that he had had a recurrence of the cancer he was first diagnosed with in 2022.
Now, one young fan is making sure Buck knows how much he is loved.
On social platform X, user Chis Ripley - writing under the handle @bluejaysart - wrote that his young son, whom he doesn't name, dedicated his participation in a Terry Fox Run to the long-time Blue Jays broadcaster.
Our little guys chose to run for Blue Jays broadcaster Buck Martinez today in the school Terry Fox Run!
Since 1981, the Terry Fox Run has been a non-competitive charity run held by schools and communities across the country to raise money for cancer research in commemoration of late activist Terry Fox and his marathon of hope.
In the 43 years since it began, the Terry Fox Foundation has raised over $750 Million for cancer research.

Buck Martinez' 40+ years association with the Blue Jays

Buck Martinez is a beloved and revered figure in Blue Jays history, by both fans and players alike. Initially coming to Toronto as a player in the early 80s, Martinez transitioned to the booth in retirement, and even managed the team in between two official broadcasting gigs.
While many tributes to him have come over the years, especially since his cancer was first announced in 2022, this young fan's dedication has been one of the most public.
Good job young man!
