The Atlanta Braves continue to fill out their roster.

After signing former Jays right-hander Elieser Hernandez, they have now added a left-hander to the mix.
On Tuesday, it was announced that the club had signed left-handed reliever Danny Young to a Major League deal. It will be a split contract, meaning he'll get paid different rates whether he is in the major or minor leagues. The major league portion of his contract is worth $925K.

The fact that it's a split contract is notable, as Young is in the final stages of recovery from Tommy John surgery. He has only recently started throwing and is aiming to return just before the All-Star break.
This is actually Young's second stint with Atlanta, having pitched for them in 2022-2023, though only totalling 11 innings across the two seasons.
Young was initially selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the eighth round of 2015 draft. After making his professional debut with Vancouver, he showed promise at each level of the minor leagues, culminating in 37 appearances between AA New Hampshire and AAA Buffalo in 2019, where he pitched to a 2.76 ERA and 42 strikeouts.
That winter, he was selected by the Cleveland Guardians in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 Draft. However, the minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and did not end making his organizational debut until 2021.
He finally made his major league debut with the Seattle Mariners in 2022, recording three strikeouts in a relief appearance against the Philadelphia Phillies.
After being designated for assignment by Seattle, he was picked up by the Braves, and spent the better part of two seasons in Triple-A Gwinnett, with some MLB games thrown in.
He signed with the New York Mets prior to the 2024 season and recorded a 4.54 in 48 games and also made his post-season debut. He made ten appearances in 2025 before being shut down and became a free agent at the end of the season.
Once healthy, he will look to help the Braves in shorter spurts, in a middle relief type of role.
