After rapidly rising through the minor leagues, Trey Yesavage is coming to Toronto.
An announcement from manager John Schneider is expected at some point later in the day.
Blue Jays are set to promote 2024 first-round pick Trey Yesavage to the major leagues, sources tell me and Shi Davidi. Possible he's not active until Monday, but he's expected to join the team in Toronto Sunday. John Schneider set to address media tomorrow morning.
Even though Yesavage will be in the city on Sunday, it's likely that he won't be active until Monday, giving him and the team a day to get settled.
It is unknown who is getting sent down in his place.
Yesavage likely to pitch out of the bullpen
Although he was a starter in the minor leagues, the Blue Jays currently boast a strong starting five and the 22 year old is unlikely to bump any of the veterans out of the rotation.
It is more likely that he will be used out of the bullpen and perhaps in a spot start, in a showcase to determine his fate and role for the 2026 season.
Trey Yesavage is coming up to the Blue Jays, a source confirms. The top prospect has a 3.12 ERA nd 160 strikeouts in 98 innings this year, his first professional season. Impressive rise right into a playoff race.
His promotion continues a remarkable rise for 2024 fist round pick, and with much uncertainty surrounding the pitching staff, this could be a time to make his mark and prove he is ready for the big time.
