Somehow, the Blue Jays are the hottest team in baseball.
Despite injuries to two of their most important position players and question marks in two of their five rotation spots, they've won 12 of their last 14 games, including three in a row on the way to a sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Nobody seems happier for this club and his teammates than Chris Bassitt
Chris Bassitt said tonight that he «feels blessed to be here.»
«I'm just really proud of this team. Honestly, from the second we showed up to spring, I feel like we're really fighting for each other, really working together.»
Chris Bassitt reflecting on this year's Blue Jays:
"Sometimes you go through some sh*t, basically get exposed, and then fix issues.. I definitely never want to go through it (2024) again." Said from Mark Shapiro, to Ross Atkins to the bottom guy in org responded the right way.
"He's probably our best player right now. I don't think that's a stretch by any means. He doesn't say a lot of words, but then all of a sudden he goes out there and plays some of the best defence, and his offence is off the charts right now.»
From here, the Blue Jays head to Philadelphia, where they'll wrap up their three-city road trip with three against the Phillies starting Friday.
That's a real test for the Blue Jays, but lately they've had a lot of those, and they've been responding as well as any team in the sport.
