Blue Jays crowned Spring Training champions, winners of the Golden Grapefruit

While it is currently unknown if the mystical fruit trophy actually exists, the Blue Jays has been heavily invested in the Blue Jays winning since making up the Golden Grapefruit two weeks ago.

Not only that, but the Blue Jays also had a +26 Run differential this spring, which was the highest out of all the Florida-based teams. The Blue Jays are winning, and winning by a lot.

And while many will take Spring Training results with a grain of salt, the excitement of the Blue Jays winning something, anything, cannot be overstated. Matheson refers to it as the third most important moment in Blue Jays history.

While the Blue Jays still have one more game to play - today's contest against the Pittrburgh Pirates - the Red Sox lost their matchup and fell to 1.5 games back. In other words, the Blue Jays can't be caught.

Manager John Schneider has it clear that the Golden Grapefruit means next to nothing him, but clearly the Blue Jays being first in something is something to get excited about.

The Blue Jays will enjoy three days off between their final Grapefruit League game, and their home opener against the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday.
