Remember the name Juan Sanchez.

The 18 year old Dominican infielder, who signed for just under a million dollars with the Toronto Blue Jays last January, has been named a prospect to watch after enjoying a breakout season in the Dominican Summer League.
New year, new list of prospects primed to breakout 👀

Alongside @SamDykstraMiLB + @benweinrib, enjoy a deep dive into 30 names to know heading into 2026:
In 56 games for the DSL Blue Jays, Sanchez slashed while adding eight home runs. Yes, he's only 18, and yes he's only had played on season of summer ball, but those kind of numbers can get management and scouts very excited.
There is another element to Sanchez's game that also fits in with the Blue Jays philosophy: positional versatility.
While he was signed as a shortstop, Sanchez has also seen time at third base, and will likely get more reps at both positions as he moves through the Blue Jays system.
International Free Agents are often can often be low-risk, high reward signings. The fact that Sanchez signed for $997K as opposed to some others who signed for just $10K, shows just how highly the Blue Jays scouting department thinks of him.
And while he is still a few years away from making his major league debut, the fact that he is this good at 18 has opened up many eyes in the organization.

Blue Jays have had success with IFAs before

The Blue Jays signed over 30 new players during the most recent International Free Agent signing period. While many of them might never play a game in the majors, the Blue Jays have also some very successful IFAs in their. Just look at Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
The Jays don't need Sanchez to be the next Vladdy. If he can continue his development and put up numbers like he did in the Dominican Summer League, that will be just fine.
