Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider gave the media an update on Bo Bichette's spot on the ALDS roster
Bichette's status for the ALDS against the New York Yankees is still up in the air as the shortstop continues to work his way back from a knee sprain.
Manager John Schneider said Friday that Bichette remains day-to-day and that the team still is looking to see how he is after testing his knee while running.
"For him to be on (ALDS roster), he'd have to play pretty regularly," Schneider told reporters ahead of Saturday's Game 1 (Sportsnet, 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT) at Rogers Centre. "We don't want to deviate too much from what we've been doing. So it's not saving him for a Kirk Gibson at-bat once a game that may not come."
If the Blue Jays are able to move to the ALCS, Bichette's return would provide a much-needed boost at the plate, as he was slashing .311/.357/.483 through 139 games while leading MLB in hits and doubles.
John Schneider says that Bo Bichette is still «day to day» and that running is still going to be the big test. All signs continue to point to him not being on the ALDS roster, but the #BlueJays won't reveal much more until that's announced tomorrow morning.
The 27-year-old suffered the injury back on Sept. 6 and has been doing some light workouts to try and work his way back to playing but it's been a slow recovery process.
Bichette has not started running yet, which would be a big indication that he is close to returning.
