Toronto Blue Jays legends Joe Carter and Cito Gaston joined radio hosts Ben Ennis and Brent Gunning from the Jays Care Foundation 30th Annual Golf Classic from RattleSnake Point Golf Club in Milton, Ontario on Sportnet's 590 The Fan to discuss the Blue Jays current run and success this season.

The hosts are joined by two-time World Series Champion, Joe Carter, who shares his thoughts on the Jays' success this season, the effect of having everybody in the lineup contributing, and his dislike for DH'ing.
Former Blue Jays manager, Cito Gaston joins the conversation to provide his own takes on the team's current run.
They focus on John Schneider's managerial and lineup decisions, if Addison Barger is an everyday player, and where the team should look to add at the trade deadline, if at all.

Former Blue Jays legends Joe Carter and Cito Gaston have a lot of positive things to say about this team and it's manager

When asked about what he has made of what has happened this season Carter replied:
"Every time I watch them play the one guy who has really gone off is Addison Barger, every time I watch, he goes deep, every single time! He's been a sparkplug for these guys. I love what they're doing, ten games in a row at home, they're getting some timely hits, and they're playing some pretty good baseball right now."

Ben Ennis stated that Joe Carter has been on teams that went through this ascension part way through a season before, and asked him what its like to go from a team in the clubhouse who thinks they're pretty good to a club who thinks maybe we are the best now. And what it is like to come to that realization.
"When you get on a roll like that, I mean you can't wait to get to the ballpark. The opposite happens when you're losing, you're like oh man you're looking for something to go wrong. You you start winning like you're doing, it doesnt matter if you are down 5 runs, 6 runs, you're like you know what were are going to find a way to come back. When Yogi Berra said that that 90% of the game is physical the other half is mental he was actually right. Because it's all in the mentality right now those guys are excited to come to the ballpark, that's what they're going through right now."

When asked about what he thought about Vladimir Guerrero Jr stating that they're doing their best to bring a world series to Toronto instead of just making the playoffs, Carter gave his answer on that thought process.
"You have to have a commitment from every single guy in that clubhouse, and we had that thought process in 1992, it wasn't just to get to the playoffs, or even to the world series, it was to win the world series. That was our mindset and we never lost focus on that. And now Vladdy is talking about winning a world series that's fine when you're in that position, but you also almost want to try less so you don't put too much pressure upon yourself, because I'm only one of 26 guys on this team. I don't have to be the best player everyday, I just have to do my part and be the best teammate and I think Vladdy is doing that. Part of his struggles may be due to his new contract, when you get a huge contract you try to live up to them and you can't live up to those huge contracts. You give Shohei and Soto $700 Million contracts, nobody is worth that kind of money and the're impossible to live up to. No matter what you do it's never going to be enough."

Two-time World Series Champion Cito Gaston joined the conversation and when asked about he thought about the current run Cito didn't hold back.
" Oh man these kids have been amazing, I tell ya those kids are coming up with big hits and the pitching has been good too. They're just beating everybody up, its unbelievable.

When asked what an ascension like this is like from a managers perspective Cito had this to say:
"It feels great when you're in first place and the veterans are playing good, the kids are playing good, and they're beating some good teams, the great thing as a manager is..you happy!

When Asked if he thought John Schneider should be considered for manager of the year so far he said "John should be at the top of the list as far as I'm concerned. He has done one hell of a job."
