Blue Jays reinstate Nathan Lukes

The Blue Jays don't need to make a corresponding move as
Davis Schneider was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday. This means that, for now, Barger is staying with the team.
While Lukes hasn't gotten off to the best start offensively, lefty-bat and ability to play all three outfield positions has proven valuable. He defensive prowess has come through as he made a handful a highlight reel catches early on the season.
So far this season, Lukes is hitting just .167 with three RBIs in 24 at-bats across 12 games.
The next week or so will be key for both Lukes and Barger.
Daulton Varsho is scheduled to begin his rehab and will be joining the team sooner rather than later. With
Myles Straw having earned his worth, and with management high on
Alan Roden, Barger or Lukes will likely be the odd man out once Varsho returns.
It feels like Lukes might have the slight edge. He has a little more experience, slightly more versatile positionally, and has less to prove in Triple-A than Barger, who is also not off to the strongest of starts.
That being said, Barger's untapped power, as well as his ability to play third base, may tilt the scales in his favour.
Lukes has always seemingly occupied the fringes of the Blue Jays roster and has never been given a chance to truly be the player that he can be. That is why 2025 will be such a big year for him.
While he'll never be a power hitter, his defence is unheralded and under-appreciated. That will be his calling card.
