Garrett, who has a reputation as a bit of a rabble-rouser, was a two-sport star in college, playing both baseball and basketball.
He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 22nd Round in 2011, with a clause that allowed to continue his basketball career.
He made his debut with the Reds in 2017, and went 10-17 with a 5.10 ERA over the next five years. In 235 games with the Reds, he started 14 and saved eight.
He signed a minor league deal with the Angels last year after spending the previous two seasons in Kansas City, but ultimately only played six games for Los Angeles.
Garrett has a very outgoing personality that can borderline on abrasive at times. However, he does give the Blue Jays another left-handed option alongside Brendon Little.
If he ends up making the team, look for the Blue Jays to use him in middle relief.
He'll compete for the final spot in the bullpen with Ryan Burr, Tommy Nance, Zach Pop, and Josh Walker.
