The shortstop has been out nearly a month while dealing with a new injury. While being ready and healthy for the
ALDS was always a long shot time is running out if Bo is to be back in time for a potential championship series.
MLB insider
Ken Rosenthal explained the situation and why Bichette's injury could be worse than initially feared.
In my opinion, they have to be concerned. It's not so much what I'm hearing, but what I'm seeing being by their dugout. He is not walking like a guy who is fully healthy, he's got a bit of a limp.»
Bichette still has not started running the bases, the last major hurdle before he can return to the playing field.
If the Jays are able to beat the Yankees on Tuesday it would give Toronto - and Bichette - a little more time to work with, however there isn't that much room for optimism here.
From what @Ken_Rosenthal is seeing by the dugout, Bo Bichette isn't walking like a guy who's entirely healthy.
"In my opinion, they have to be concerned."
Bichette, who had a bounce-back 2025 after a lost season a year ago, has always seemed to battle injuries throughout his career.
In his rookie season, he broke his hand which delayed the start to his career.
Re-evaluating on a day-to-day basis
As the Blue Jays move along in the playoffs, Bo's status is being evaluated on almost-daily basis.
While his hitting and fielding are slowly improving, Bichette and the Blue Jays cannot progress any more forward until he starts running the bases.
