Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer hasn't been in the lineup for 2 weeks now, and the concern is growing as there has been no word from MLB on when he is cleared to resume play.

When George Springer went down on a wild pitch to the helmet on July 28, many were concerned what the potential repercussions could be for Springer and the Jays going forward.
Two weeks later, that concern is growing as Springer isn't back up with Toronto within the expected time frame.
More worrisome has been the fact that he has yet to appear in a rehab game with the Jays' Triple-A affiliate Buffalo Bisons as well.

Level of concern grows for George Springer's return because of a extensive history of concussions

For those that recall, Springer has had a prior history of concussions, including two in Houston.
First one was in 2015 when he went on the 7-day concussion IL, and the second when he crashed into the wall on a spectacular defensive play back in 2019 with the Astros.
George Springer, in his return to the lineup, talks about his concussion he suffered last week in Milwaukee
But more notably, Blue Jays fans will remember the significant one he suffered when he collided with shortstop Bo Bichette during the fateful Game 2 collapse in the 2022 AL Wild Card Series against the Seattle Mariners.
Just an unbelievable turn of events in Toronto. George Springer and Bo Bichette collide out in center fielder. The bases clear and it's now a 9-9 ballgame. Wow.
Whether it happened to be a coincidence or not, Springer didn't appear to be the same in his subsequent two seasons with the Jays, including a disappointing 2024 campaign in which he set career lows in batting average (.220) and OPS (.674).
So to say that Jays fans shouldn't be at all concerned is a total understatement, as they should actually be quite concerned to say the least.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is the face of the franchise. Bo Bichette is an undeniable co-star.
But Springer is the key veteran cog in the Blue Jays' 2025 offence.
After the worst campaign of his career in 2024 and what seemed to be the start of his inevitable decline, Springer has been arguably the team's best offensive player this year. Somehow, 12 seasons into his career, Springer's back in his prime.
In fact, he had been one of the Jays' main offensive leaders this year prior to his injury, batting a career-high .291 with an .889 OPS, along with 66 runs scored, 18 home runs, 57 RBIs and 12 stolen bases in 101 total games played.
However, Springer has now gone beyond the usual seven-day suspected concussion protocol and was still absent from the Bisons' starting lineup to date.
Until we finally see Springer officially back in action, that eerie and worrisome feeling among Blue Jays fans will linger just that much longer.
