The team has hired former Big League catcher and broadcaster
Gregg Zaun to be their manager for the 2026 season.
The Falcons are one of 17 teams who play in the Western League, which house teams from British Columbia, Calgary, Oregon, and Washington.
While the team made the decision back in October, it is has been coming to more attention in recent days.
Zaun played in the major leagues for 17 seasons, including five with the
Blue Jays from 2004-2008.
It was during his time in Toronto that he began being featured as a commentator; he moved into broadcasting upon retirement.
As analyst for SportsNet, Zaun became as well known for his suits and rhetoric as much as he did for his baseball knowledge.
A popular but divisive figure, he was let go in 2017 after reports of inappropriate behaviour surfaced.
Following his expulsion, Zaun was out of baseball for several years, though he resurface in the Mexican League, where he was a coach and then briefly manager of
Quintana Roo in 2024, and had worked in the Pioneer League prior to that.
Zaun currently lives in BC
The Falcons may seem like an odd choice for Zaun to continue his potential baseball comeback, but makes sense for him personally.
He currently lives is Britiish Columbia, as does his estranged current wife, who is from the Kelowna area.
Classified as a summer collegiate league, The Western League's season typically runs from early June until the end of August.
