Former Blue Jays infielder Rance Mulliniks shares his thoughts on Dylan Cease coming to Toronto and what's next for the team.

For those of you not in the know, here is a brief history on Rance Mulliniks.
Acquired by the Blue Jays from the Royals in 1982, Mulliniks was a key piece of the club for 11 seasons and his contributions have often been underrated.
Mulliniks hit .280 with a .790 OPS over those seasons, peaking with a very strong run in the mid-80s.
Primarily a third baseman who dabbled in shortstop -- where he had played with the Royals -- Mulliniks didn't hit for much power, but he kept a steady average and posted an on-base percentage north of .370 in six of his 11 full seasons in Toronto.

Often overshadowed by other stars during the 80s and early 90s, Mulliniks is quietly one of the more underrated players in club history.
Mulliniks wasn't afraid to take a walk and was good defensively. Playing in the pre-sabermetric days, he made himself the poster boy for doing things right, getting on base, hitting the odd homer, and doing the job on defense.
While awards and accolades never came, there's no denying Mulliniks' value to those Blue Jays teams. He appeared in the eighth-most games (1,115) in club history.

Mulliniks comments on the Blue Jays acquisition of Dylan Cease

"I believe Dylan Cease is a positive addition to Jays rotation. Very durable the last 5 seasons. Coming off subpar yearbut solid career numbers. On to Bo Bichette."
Mulliniks indicated the signing of Cease so quickly, was possibly a result of not being able to come to terms with Chris Bassitt.
"The signing of Dylan Cease may also indicate that the Jays feel they may not be able to come to terms with Chris Bassitt. We shall see".
Mulliniks, 69, just joined social media in October, so hopefully we will hear more about his thoughts on the Blue Jays in the near future.
