Addison Barger during the 10-game win streak: 35 AB, 11 H, 4 HR, 13 RBI. Unstoppable.
Barger has been one of if not the best player for the Blue Jays lately as he currently has a .346 batting average, .393 on base percentage with 4 homeruns and 12 RBIs in his last 8 games alone.
Barger has put the league on notice and even former players are watching with their eyes wide open. Jose Bautista while on Sportsnet 590 spoke about his time with the Blue Jays and how he went from a role player to an everyday player and how he see similarities about the path he and Barger took on their ascent to being 'the guy'.
Blue Jays legend Jose Bautista praises Addison Barger during interview on Sportsnet
"If everybody does their role on a day-to-day basis, maybe they turn into a guy... I know that was part of my path, hopefully it's the same for someone like Addison [Barger]."
Bautista stated that when he arrived in Toronto he was brought in to be a solid player but not necessarily to be 'the guy'.
After continuously putting up solid numbers and dominating pitchers he eventually became their top player.
Barger can have a very similar path according to Bautista. After having an exceptional spring training Barger was snubbed for Alan Roden, but due to injuries and a slow start from Roden, Barger was brought up to fill in offensively and stepped up big time.
Barger hasn't looked back and has been with the Blue Jays ever since and could easily be one of their best players over the next few years.
It will be interesting to see how everything plays out with Barger as the sample size is still small but at this rate there are no signs of him slowing down.
