George Springer clearly in pain

There has a been a slight update on George Springer. The Blue Jays' outfielder left Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles with "left wrist soreness" and was in obvious pain during his last at-bat. He was replaced by Will Wagner.

The latest report from Hazel Mae indicates that Springer is dealing with inflammation. While the injury doesn't appear to be serious - he is currently listed as day-to-day - it did cause him to miss Monday's game against the Atlanta Braves.
According to Mae, Springer had some X-Rays in Baltimore and an MRI in Toronto. Both came back negative, which is good news for both Springer and the Blue Jays.
Manager John Schneider stated that the next step is for Springer to take batting practice to see how he feels. If he is able to turn his wrist over quickly enough and get a decent amount of bat speed, a return to the line-up could be in order.
If any soreness lingers, he will likely sit out another few days. In this event, Nathan Lukes and Myles Straw will likely fill in in centre field.
Although Daulton Varsho is on the mend and looks good to return by the end of the month, Springer has been the Blue Jays best hitter early on this season.
Through 16 games Springer is slashing .375/.436/.604 with two home runs, ten RBIs, to go along with six runs scored, two stolen bases, and a 200 OPS+.
Fortunately for all involved, the injury doesn't appear to be serious and Springer is theoretically available to pinch hit. Either way, an IL stint does not appear necessary.
