The Toronto Blue Jays recently lost Yimi Garcia to an ankle sprain and was placed on the 15-day IL. Then reliever Ryan Burr went on the list with a rotator cuff strain, which is a serious injury. Burr was placed on the 60-day injured list..

Burr will not be back with the Jays for the foreseeable future, however it appears that Garcia will be back sooner than thought.
Garcia threw a bullpen in Toronto on Friday that went well and due to the nature of his injury, will not need a rehab start before returning to the Blue Jays.
He can report directly to the team if all goes well.
Yimi Garcia (ankle) threw a bullpen in Toronto Friday that went well. He'll throw another in the coming days. Due to the nature of his injury, it's possible Garcia could return directly to Blue Jays bullpen without going on a rehab assignment.
Friday marks the first time Garcia has thrown a bullpen session since he landed on the injured list Saturday with a sprained left ankle.
He won't be eligible to come off the IL until shortly after the All-Star break, but his return to the mound is a positive development for his chances of being activated following a minimum-length stay.
Yimi Garcia threw a bullpen yesterday. Will get 1 more, and then Blue Jays will decide if he needs a rehab assignment or if he'll just rejoin Toronto post AS break.
He's made a total of 22 appearances for the Blue Jays in 2025, holding a 0-2 record and 3.15 ERA during that span.
Through 21 innings pitched, he's posted three saves while allowing 11 hits and seven earned runs on 24 strikeouts.
Garcia signed with Toronto ahead of the 2025 campaign on a two-year, $15-million deal. It's his second stint with the club after spending 2.5 seasons with the team between 2022-24.
