The Los Angeles Angels have re-signed former Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Shaun Anderson.
With Spring Training just under a month away, many teams are starting to or continuing to add depth to their rosters; especially when it comes to the pitching department.
The Los Angeles Angels are no exception. It has been reported that the Halos have re-signed right-handed Shaun Anderson to a minor league deal, presumably with an invite to Spring Training.
The Los Angeles Angels have re-signed RHP Shaun Anderson to a minor league contract for the 2026 season and assigned him to AAA Salt Lake City.
Angels sign Anderson for rotation depth at Triple-A, long-relief arm in the majors
It's a reunion for the two sides, as Anderson spent 2025 bouncing between Triple-A and the big league club. Ultimately, he appeared in seven games for the Halos, going 1-0 with a 10.32 ERA.
All told, the 31-year old has suited up for eight big league teams since making his debut in 2019, including a single game for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2022.
Additionally, he spent 2023 in Korea with the Kia Tigers of the KBO league.
Here are some Shaun Anderson sliders for your enjoyment.
While Anderson has never really found his footing in the majors, he does offer some versatility, having the ability to pitch out of the rotation as well as the bullpen.
In 76 career appearances, the right-hander has made 18 starts, though nearly all of them came during his big league season while a member of the San Francisco Giants.
Much like last season, the Angels signed Anderson to be rotation depth at Triple-A Salt Lake, as well as a long relief arm in the majors.
In the Bees rotation last year, Anderson tossed 116 2/3 innings while garnering a 6.02 ERA.
