George Springer led off the bottom of the first inning on Sunday by crushing an opposite-field home run that sent the Rogers Centre crowd into a frenzy.
In that moment, it looked like the Blue Jays were going to carry their offensive momentum from the previous round right into this American League Championship Series.
However, Seattle pitching ended up stifling the Blue Jays to just 1 run, in Game 1 of the ALCS
In his postgame scrum,
Vladimir Guerrero Jr reminded reporters it was simply "one game," and expects the Blue Jays to bounce back.
«We didn't hit,» said Vlad Jr.
Although the rest of the team also suffered a similar fate to Guerrero Jr. with quiet bats, starting pitcher
Kevin Gausman wanted to insist the loss was on him in his postgame comments.
"I tried to do my job as much as I can. I gave up a home run and a walk. To that point, I was really throwing the ball well and had the game right there. This one's on me."
Today the Blue Jays look to rookie phenom
Trey Yesavage to right the ship in Game 2 versus Mariners starter
Logan Gilbert. First pitch is at 5:03 PM ET on Sportsnet and FOX.

Starting Pitchers Overview
In his last outing Trey Yesavage earned the win after he pitched 5.1 scoreless and hitless innings, walking a batter and striking out 11 others in a 13-7 win over the Yankees in Game 2 of the ALDS.
Yesavage was nothing short of brilliant in his first career postseason outing, preventing New York from reaching base for the final five innings of his performance.
Logan Gilbert gets the nod for the Mariners in game 2. In his last outing Gilbert earned the win during Game 3 of the ALDS versus Detroit on after allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out seven batters across six innings.
A three-hour rain delay didn't seem to faze Gilbert at all, as he was able to generate 16 whiffs on 85 pitches and finished his outing without dishing out a free pass.
A fielder's choice allowed the Tigers to plate a run against the right-hander in the fourth inning, but an eight-run performance from the Mariners' offense ensured that Gilbert was never in serious jeopardy of leaving the ballpark Tuesday without a win.
After dropping Game 1, the Blue Jays will ride rookie Trey Yesavage's golden righty arm to a Game 2 win to even the ALCS at a game apiece.
An offense that was held to two hits in Game 1 will come back to life, and put Game 2 out of reach in the middle innings. Blue Jays win by at least four runs.
