Rafael Devers making waves in Boston. Can the Blue Jays take advantage?

In case you haven't been following, there is a little bit of drama with the Red Sox in Boston. After moving to DH after previously being unwilling, Rafael Devers is now flat out refusing to move to first base in the wake of Triston Casas' season-ending injury. It's gotten so awkward that owner John Henry personally met with the embattled superstar. But how does this affect the Blue Jays?
The 20-20 Toronto Blue Jays are currently 3.5 games back in the AL East and only a game behind the Red Sox. With all the clubhouse drama in Boston, it could help the Blue Jays vault into second place, but so could a trade.
Third base has been a relative weak spot for the Blue Jays this season; they also need more offence. Could the Blue Jays swing a trade for Devers? Not likely?
While outlets like Sports Illustrated and Jays Journal have postulated that the Toronto could pursue, it doesn't make a ton of sense. Devers is a bat-first player with poor defensive skills and limited positional versatility. It's not exactly the kind of player the team needs - or is looking for. If he is kept at DH, that also weakens the team defensively as it forces Anthony Santander to play the outfield.
Plus, there is that 10 year, $315.5MM contract.
Another suggestion was trading for
Alex Bregman. The Red Sox signed the former Astros All-Star to a three-year deal this offseason, but with an opt-out after 2025. Bregman is much better defender and better overall player and likely would be a better fit.
The price tag for either would be considerable, and would probably include MLB-ready prospects, a pitcher, and an outfielder.
The drama in Boston is intense, but still fresh, and Devers may ultimately come around. Even if he doesn't, I can't see the Blue Jays making a realistic play for either Devers or Bregman.
Boston will also likely not give up on Devers so soon.
The standstill continues.
