Another Toronto Blue Jays pitcher has hit the infirmary.

The Toronto Blue Jays announced Monday that right-hander Max Scherzer has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to tendinitis in his right forearm and inflammation in his left ankle, retroactive to April 25.
A timetable for his return to the roster has not yet been provided.
Right-handed reliever Chase Lee was recalled from the triple-A Buffalo Bisons in a corresponding move.
ROSTER MOVES:

🔹 RHP Max Scherzer placed on 15-day IL (right forearm tendinitis, left ankle inflammation)

🔹 RHP Chase Lee recalled from Triple-A and will be active tonight
In a game where Max Scherzer would reach his 3,500 career strike out it just wasn't his day.
To say that Scherzer had a rough outing against the Cleveland Guardians would be an understatement.
In that outing, Scherzer allowed seven runs on six hits in 2.1 innings pitched.
He walked three without registering that milestone strikeout as his season ERA climbed to 9.64.
While all pitchers perform poorly on occasion, this outing adds to a concerning month of April for Scherzer.
In four starts since revealing that he’s battling forearm tendinitis, he has allowed 19 earned runs over 12.2 innings while allowing as many home runs as strikeouts (six each).
This latest move to the IL suggests the 41-year old may be limited to as many innings or less than last seasons campaign.
Scherzer had been scheduled to start Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox. He joins fellow starters Jose Berrios, Shane Bieber and Cody Ponce on the IL, with Trey Yesavage slated for his season debut Tuesday.
Lee, meanwhile, will be active Monday against the Red Sox (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT) and would be making his team debut if he gets into the game.
The Blue Jays acquired the side-armer in a December trade with the Detroit Tigers. He had a 4.10 ERA in 32 relief appearance for the AL Central club last season.
With the Bisons, Lee owns a 1.32 ERA with 12 strikeouts and two saves over nine games.
