The Iowa Meat Truck continues to make history. Peyton Williams, the hulking first baseman who hits bombs for Double-A, did something that had never been done in Fisher Cats history before last night. He hit a pinch-hit walk-off home run.
It happened in a back-and-forth affair against the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A affiliate for the Washington Nationals. After being up 3-1 early, The Fisher Cats trailed 6-3, before going up 9-5. The Senators scored four runs in the 8th to even the score at nine apiece.

With none on and nobody out in the bottom of the ninth, Williams came up to the plate as a replacement for shortstop Josh Rivera. On a 1-2 count from Senators reliever Junior Santos, Williams launched a ball over the right-field fence for his second home run of the season and first pinch-hit walk-off in Fisher Cats history.
Williams has dramatically increased his visibility in the last 12 months. A stand-out in Vancouver, he continued his ways in the Arizona Fall League this past December.
While there might not be a true path to the majors on the Blue Jays as an offensive-first first baseman, if he keeps up his ways, he could be Triple-A before too long.
Williams has never been a high average hitter, but he did slug 25 home runs over the last two seasons (167 games total) while playing mostly for Vancouver and Dunedin.
Williams is also slightly older, having been a 7th round pick out of college in 2022.
Now, he is a part of Fisher Cats history.
