The outfielder was not part of the triple-A Buffalo Bisons lineup for Wednesday's game against Lehigh Valley, less than 24 hours after Blue Jays manager John Schneider said the team's hope was for Springer to see game action in the next few days.
George Springer is at Rogers Centre with Blue Jays; he's taking batting practice, running, fielding. Club is hopeful he'll be cleared from concussion protocol in coming days. Springer will go out on rehab once cleared; likely multiple games.
George Springer is back with the team doing baseball activity, hitting off machine, hope is he clears MLB protocol in next few days so he can begin a rehab assignment with Buffalo.
Springer was then sent down to Buffalo for what was supposed to be a brief rehab stint, but he has yet to clear protocols for return to play.
The expectation was that Springer would start rehab games on Wednesday.
The fact that he hasn't played yet means he hasn't been cleared of the concussion.
He can't play in a rehab game or for Toronto until he is medically cleared.
In 101 games, Springer is slashing .291/.383/.506 with 18 home runs and 57 RBIs.
