We are saddened to learn of the passing of 1969 World Series Champion Ron Taylor.
The right-handed reliever led the Mets with 59 appearances and 13 saves in 1969. He had a 9-4 record and a 2.72 ERA. Taylor pitched for the Mets from 1967-1971.
"Ron was the only guy on our staff with postseason experience," Art Shamsky told the Mets' official blog. "He had won a championship with the Cardinals in 1964 and brought a winning mentality. We don't win the title without Ron Taylor."
