Toronto Blue Jays minor league pitcher Chad Dallas received an unexpected shoutout on Tuesday when MLB Network insider Jon Morosi gave him a spontaneous shoutout on social media.
Jon Morosi highlighted both Chad Dallas and the Toronto Blue Jays player development system, specifically recognizing the young right-hander’s progress as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery.
Here is what we know about right hander Chad Dallas
For many Blue Jays fans, Dallas is still relatively unknown. But that may start to change, his performance suggests he’s worth paying attention to.
Dallas was named the organization’s Pitching Prospect of the Year in 2023, a sign of his rising potential.
However, his momentum was halted in 2024 when his season ended prematurely after just 14 starts with Triple-A Buffalo. He underwent Tommy John surgery that September and has been recovering ever since.
This past February, Dallas made an encouraging return during a Spring Training appearance against the New York Mets.
He dominated, striking out four of the five batters he faced over 1.2 innings without allowing a hit.
The road back from Tommy John surgery is rarely smooth, so any positive signs are significant.
For the Blue Jays, Dallas’s early results are a promising development.
He continued that momentum in his most recent outing last Friday in Rochester, pitching for the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.

His fastball sat around 91 mph and topped out at 93, while his breaking pitches proved especially effective, consistently fooling hitters.
Dallas pitched three innings in that game, and the Blue Jays will likely continue to handle him cautiously as he builds back up.
Still, if he continues to miss bats and produce strong results, he could earn a promotion down the line.
The organization’s current plan is likely to keep Dallas in Triple-A this season, allowing him to regain strength and refine his game.
However, as Blue Jays fans saw last year, a prospect can rise quickly and force their way into the big league picture.
While Dallas may not follow the same rapid trajectory as Trey Yesavage did, his progress marks a positive step forward, he’s a name that could soon gain more attention.
