The Toronto Blue Jays are expected to gain more clarity soon regarding the status of right-handed pitcher Cody Ponce and the next steps in his recovery.

Blue Jays SP Cody Ponce (right ACL sprain) is going to see Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Monday for an in-person evaluation of his knee.

A Decision will be made whether surgery is necessary is necessary or not

.
The evaluation is expected to determine whether surgery will be required, a decision that could significantly shape his recovery timeline.
This update comes shortly after manager John Schneider revealed that Ponce is dealing with a sprained ACL in his right knee.
Schneider noted that the injury is serious enough to sideline the pitcher for a considerable period.
The injury occurred Monday during Ponce’s first major league start since 2021.
While attempting to field a ground ball, he fell awkwardly and was unable to leave the field under his own power, ultimately being taken off on a cart.
The incident cast a shadow over what had otherwise been a strong outing.
The 31-year-old, who signed a three-year, $30 million deal in the offseason, had been effective early in the game against the Colorado Rockies.
Before exiting, he pitched 2.1 innings and demonstrated impressive command, generating 15 swings and misses on just 29 pitches.
ElAttrache, who will oversee Ponce’s evaluation, has an extensive track record of treating elite athletes, including Tom Brady, Kobe Bryant, Aaron Rodgers, and Shohei Ohtani.
