He is now free to sign with any team.
Quinones, who was a 34th round pick out of San Jacinto in Texas in 2019, spent most of 2025 recovering from an injury suffered in the spring. In the three rehab games he did get into with the rookie league Gulf Coast Blue Jays, his ERA swelled to 8.10.
He had a strong debut season in 2019,
but was suspended after testing positive for Nandrolone, a performance enhancing drug. He missed all of 2020.
A starter for most of his minor league career, Quinones transferred to the bullpen in 2023. While he had some success with New Hampshire, he was unable to carry that over to Triple-A Buffalo.

He had a very strange year in 2024. Although he went 11-0 in 35 games out of the bullpen, his ERA was 5.15, and he had an elevated walk total, giving up 53 base on balls in 73 innings of work.
Control and command issues come to the surface
Although he had control problems at times, he was also a strike out machine, with 478 over 360.2 innings of work across six seasons in the minor leagues.

Much like the big leagues, the end of the minor league season always bring about a roster crunch. At 27 years old and yet to make his major league debut, it was hard to imagine a path forward for Quinones.
Still, he is the type of depth player many teams would take a flyer on and his experience both starting and coming out of the bullpen could prove to be an asset for teams looking for a hybrid reliever.
Still, he may be hard pressed to find a job in the majors next season.
