After every World Series, there is always talk about future Hall of Famers. Now, one interesting name has been added to that debate.

In the 2025 World Series, four members of the Los Angles Dodgers have a good shot at making the Hall of Fame: Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Clayton Kershaw and Shohei Ohtani, while vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Max Scherzer comprise the same for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Now, a member of the Blue Jays front staff, who has played for both teams, has added an intriguing name to the list.
World Series champion, Kevin Kiermaier.
Kevin Kiermaier retired in 2024, after splitting his final season between the Dodgers and Blue Jays, and now works as a special assistant to Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins, believes that Dodgers catcher Will Smith will one join his teammates in Cooperstown.
«This guy, I think, is going to be a Hall of Famer, "This guy is the most he is one of the most poised I've ever been around, never seems like his heart is beating, a guy you always trust.»

It's a curious choice indeed. Firstly, Smith has only played in the big leagues for seven seasons, three short of the Hall's minimum of ten. Additionally, Smith's number don't exactly scream Hall of Fame.
While Smith's numbers are good - one could argue that are even above average for a catcher - they are not what anyone would consider Hall of Fame worthy.
However, through 7 seasons, Smith has a WAR of 23. While a score of 60, is usually a good minimum indicator for being inshrined, its also a stat that has been relatively unfair for catchers when determining their overall career lady.

Smith hit Series-winning home run

Looking at the more broader picture however, it's easy to why Kiermaier pegged Smith as a future Hal of Famer.
The catcher hit the go-ahead home run in the 11th inning of Game 7, a shot that ultimately made the difference, and was listed as the fifth most impactful home run in post-season history.
Smith is 30 years old. His fate should be decided in 10-15 years.
