While Rogers Centre erupted after George Springer's home run for the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7 of the ALCS, one fan was even more excited than the rest.
Blue Jays fan Michael Angeletti has 30,000 more reasons to celebrate catching George Springer's home run ball in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
According to CTV News Toronto, Angeletti said the ball sold for US$26,840 following an auction last month, which netted him roughly $30,000 Canadian, after fees.
«I'm feeling rested. Relaxed,» he said after returning from a short cruise to celebrate the windfall.
The go-ahead three-run homer late in the Oct. 20 series-clinching game sent the Blue Jays to their first World Series in 32 years, with a 4-3 win over the Seattle Mariners.
Toronto had trailed Seattle for most of the game before Springer went yard and drove the ball 381 feet into Angeletti's glove.

«I kind of blacked out for about four seconds in the moment,» Angeletti told CTV News after the game.
George Springer's ALCS home run ball represents one of the biggest moments in Toronto's sports history.
While the World Series didn't go Toronto's way (a 5-4 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 7), the ball itself represents one of the biggest moments in the city's sports history.
«The baseball exhibits extensive wear, with white leather scuffing and surface abrasions throughout,» a description of the item, published by auction host Goldin, reads.
This marks the second baseball from an electrifying moment in the Blue Jays' post-season run that has gone up for auction.
Sotheby's is auctioning off the ball from Addison Barger's pinch-hit grand slam, the first ever in World Series history in Game 1 against the Dodgers.
