There weren't many people picking
Brayden Fisher as a breakout candidate for the 2025 Toronto Blue Jays bullpen, but six months into the season he's been one of the most consistent and reliable arms in the Toronto 'pen this year.
The emergence of rookie reliever Braydon Fisher has already made this trade a complete win for Toronto.
The 24-year-old made his MLB debut on May 11, 2025 getting the honor of finishing a blowout game for the Blue Jays over the Mariners.
Fisher entered the game in the ninth, allowed a hit and nothing more in one inning of work as Toronto took the contest 9-1.
Since then, Fisher has about as perfect as you can be as a reliever at the MLB level.
His lone blemish was when he allowed five runs in an inning and a third of work as a starter, in a game the Blue Jays would end up winning 8-5.
He didn't let that experience rattle him as he didn't allow a run over his next 14 outings.
Take away the five runs he gave up in that start against the A's and Fisher has allowed just four earned runs all season as a reliever, with no home runs and 43 strikeouts in 33 innings of work.
His 1.09 ERA as a reliever is the second lowest by a pitcher who has thrown at least 30 innings this season.
Blue Jays trade a struggling Cavan Biggio to the Dodgers for reliever Braydon Fisher
Coming up as a prospect, Biggio was paired alongside Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette, a trio of second-generation players who carried the hopes of a fan base.
Some of these expectations were unfairly hoisted upon Biggio, which is the nature of having a famous last name, but Biggio has handled the good and bad days admirably.
Throughout his tenure in Toronto, Biggio earned respect throughout the organization, making the past week's decisions difficult for those involved.
We saw Biggio's offensive peak early in his career, when he posted a .368 on-base percentage, .798 OPS and 24 home runs over his first two seasons (159 games).
He eventually transitioned from second base to third, then into a super-utility role, but by the time that part of his game began showing its true value, Biggio's bat had cooled, and then was traded to the Dodgers.
At the time of the deal, Biggio was struggling, and those struggles continued when he got to LA.
The Blue Jays have been impressed with Fisher so far and so have the fans.
