Toronto Blue Jays offer free agent outfielder Kyle Tucker a long-term deal

The Mets reportedly offered Tucker $50 million per season on a short-term deal.

According to FanSided's Robert Murray report, the New York Mets have offered Kyle Tucker a contract that is worth $50 million annually.

Now that a bombshell New York Mets offer appears to be on the table, Toronto management and ownership has a strong idea of just how much of Rogers riches it will require to land the prized outfielder.

The Blue Jays, of course, have been among the more engaged suitors for Tucker, who visited the team's player development complex in Dunedin back in December.

Since then, they've remained engaged in the pursuit.

ESPN's Jesse Rogers reported today that the Blue Jays have a long-term contract on the table for Tucker.

Adding Tucker would give them a left-handed batting outfielder that fits their system and can bat second in their lineup.

Last season, Tucker slashed .266/.377/.464 with 22 home runs in 597 plate appearances for a 136 wRC+ and 4.5.

He suffered a hair fracture in his hand on Jun. 1, and was slashing .283/.391/.520 with 12 home runs in 266 plate appearances (150 wRC+) before the injury.

Several reports suggest that Tucker could make the call by the end of the week, pending the results of how serious other teams consider countering the Mets short-term offer.
