Great opportunities for Cease to thrive with the Blue Jays

MLB.com's Keegan Matheson reported that Schneider views it as a real opportunity for Cease to get better.
John Schneider says the Blue Jays see "a real opportunity" for Dylan Cease to get even better. He added that it "caught Cease's attention" when Toronto's staff spoke to him about different fastball grips and developing more of a changeup, as examples.
Cease's contract is a $210 million guarantee for the Boras Corporation client, though it includes deferred money that'll drop the average annual value for luxury tax purposes to roughly $26 million. That puts the net present value closer to $182 million.
Even after adjusting for deferrals, it's the largest free agent signing in franchise history. Though the Jays gave Vladimir Guerrero Jr. a $500 million extension earlier this year, they'd never gone beyond George Springer's six-year, $150 million deal on the open market.
