After another lopsided loss to the Baltimore Orioles this afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays announced that they have optioned starting pitcher Easton Lucas and DFA'd Chad Green.

Blue Jays Reliever Chad Green has been designated for assignment

After acquiring right-handed reliever Seranthony Dominguez from the Orioles this afternoon, the Blue Jays have designated fellow righty reliever Chad Green for assignment to open up space on their active and 40-man rosters.
Green, 34, has some good seasons on his track record but 2025 isn't one of them. He has thrown 43 2/3 innings for the Jays this year with a 5.56 earned run average.
He came into today's game with a subpar 18.6% strikeout rate. He has allowed 14 home runs on the year, the most of any reliever in the majors.
The Jays are in first place in the American League East and looking to bolster their roster ahead of the deadline.
That includes making bullpen additions.
Dominguez is the first but there are likely more relievers coming in the next 48 hours. Green's subpar results have made him the first casualty of the club's deadline moves.

The Toronto Blue Jays option left-handed starting pitcher Easton Lucas back to Triple-A

The Blue Jays called up Lucas this morning from Triple-A for the second game of their doubleheader against the Orioles today.
The Blue Jays had Lucas on the mound for their first game of the afternoon against the Orioles and things went quite poorly as he only pitched 2.2 innings before being pulled after he gave up 4 hits and 4 earned runs.
Easton Lucas is done after just 2 1/3 innings. The #BlueJays were obviously hoping for more, but his control just wasn't there today. Lazaro Estrada can handle some bulk innings now, then Schultz could be activated for Game 2 (swapping for Lucas).. So they could still be OK-ish.
After the loss, the Blue Jays announced that they have already optioned Lucas back to Triple-A and activated Paxton Schultz.
Easton Lucas has been optioned.Paxton Schultz activated, so he'll be the long man if needed. #BlueJays
After how things went last time around in the majors for Lucas plus this outing, there is a good chance the Blue Jays decide to get trade of him in the near future or simply not call him up any time soon.
If the Blue Jays end up using Schultz tonight, hopefully he will be more effective than Lucas was.
