Blue Jays prospect Rafael Sanchez spins the FisherCats' first no-hitter since 2012 while donning the club's Chicken Tenders alternate identity.
Sánchez joined Fisher Cats alums Jamie Vermilyea (2004) and Kyle Drabek (2010) to throw complete game no-hitters. It was the fourth no-hitter in franchise history, as the other was a combined no-hitter.
Sánchez also became the first Fisher Cats pitcher to throw three complete games in a career. In fact, he was the first to do it twice when he tossed a rain-shortened, six-inning complete game on April 25 against Binghamton.
The 25-year-old Cuba native was signed by the Blue Jays to a minor-league contract in May of 2022, and posted a 3.64 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 19 starts with both the high-A Vancouver Canadians and the Fisher Cats last season.
New Hampshire has won a five in a row on top of a 37-inning no-hit streak heading into the second half of its doubleheader Saturday night.
Sánchez has a 4.91 ERA in 11 starts with the Fisher Cats this season. He appeared in 72 games with Sabuesos de Holguin in the Cuban National Series from 2017-2021 where he had a career ERA of 5.12.
