The Toronto Blue Jays continue to shuffle the deck amidst a season marred with injuries.

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed right-handed pitcher Nic Enright on the full-season injured list, according to the team’s official transaction log on Wednesday.
Enright, 28, has faced a challenging path in his professional career despite delivering strong performances when healthy.
Originally selected by Cleveland in the 20th round of the 2019 draft, he steadily climbed through the system and reached Triple-A in 2022, where he posted impressive results that put him on the verge of a major league call-up.
However, his progress was halted later that year when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in December.
The diagnosis came shortly after he was selected by the Miami Marlins in the Rule 5 Draft, and it significantly limited his availability during the 2023 season.
Although he managed to begin a rehab assignment while undergoing treatment, he struggled upon returning and was eventually sent back to Cleveland.
By 2024, Enright had regained form, once again producing strong numbers in the minors.
That performance earned him his MLB debut in 2025, where he impressed with a 2.03 ERA and a 23.7% strikeout rate over 31 innings.
He appeared to be emerging as a reliable bullpen option before suffering another setback, undergoing Tommy John surgery in October.

Blue Jays hope to reap the rewards of their two-year investment in 2027

Following the surgery, Enright entered minor league free agency for the first time and has since signed with the reigning American League champions.
His contract covers both the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
While minor league deals are typically one-year agreements, two-year contracts are not uncommon for players recovering from major injuries.
These deals allow teams to oversee a player’s rehabilitation while securing the opportunity to benefit from their return.
For the player, the added year provides financial stability and avoids the uncertainty of re-entering free agency after a rehab-focused season.
Although Enright is unlikely to contribute at the major league level in 2026, his track record suggests he could become a bullpen option for Toronto at some point in 2027 if he returns to full health.
