Toronto Blue Jays outfield prospect Blaine Bullard is off to an impressive start in his professional debut with Single-A Dunedin.

The Toronto Blue Jays took a significant risk on Blaine Bullard in the 2025 draft, selecting him in the 12th round and signing him for over $1.6 million, far exceeding the slot value of $150,000 for that pick.
The aggressive move was aimed at convincing him to forgo his commitment to Texas A&M and begin his professional career.
That gamble appears to be paying off. Bullard chose to turn pro and quickly established himself as one of the organization’s top outfield prospects, even before recording his first official at-bat in affiliated baseball.
A switch hitter with notable power from both sides of the plate, Bullard impressed scouts with his bat speed.
His offensive profile aligns well with the Blue Jays’ development approach, particularly for hitters with his skill set.
Ranked No. 120 among draft prospects by MLB Pipeline, Bullard was praised for his speed, average arm strength, and above-average defensive ability in the outfield.
Entering the 2026 season, however, questions remained about his hitting.
Some scouts were encouraged by his gap-to-gap approach and long-term projection, while others expressed concern about the level of competition he faced prior to turning pro.
Early returns may already be easing those concerns.
Bullard made his professional debut with the Dunedin Blue Jays during their 2026 season opener against the Bradenton Marauders at TD Ballpark, and he made an immediate impact.
The 19-year-old center fielder went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored, and a triple.
In his first plate appearance, Bullard drove the first pitch he saw off the right-center field wall for a triple, collecting his first professional hit.
Makes sense as to why Toronto gave Blaine Bullard nearly $2 million in this past draft. In his first pro AB, he ropes a triple off of Pirates first rounder Seth Hernandez. 99.3 mph EV, 374 ft.
Later in the game, he delivered an infield single in the seventh inning to tie the score at 4-4, earning his first professional RBI after a lengthy nine-pitch at-bat.
He continued to show his power in a game against the Port St. Lucie Mets, going 1-for-4 with a home run, RBI, and a run scored.
His first professional homer, a solo shot in the fifth inning, left the bat at 102 mph and traveled 358 feet, coming off four-year MLB veteran José Marte.

Through his first three professional games, Bullard has recorded three hits, a single, triple, and home run, while posting a .273 average and drawing attention for his early production, despite four strikeouts.
While it’s still a very small sample size, the early performance is encouraging for a young player who entered the season with some uncertainty surrounding his bat against higher-level competition.
Dunedin is set to face the Mets again this evening at 6:30 p.m. EDT at Clover Park.
